I saw Aquamarine on Friday, opening night at the theatre close to my work. It was really weird watching my storyboards moving around up there on the big screen. Every scene that I boarded was up there just the way I drew them. The director and I spent a great deal and effort working through all those boards, tweaking and finessing, it was a lot of give and take. Extremely satisfying was seeing sequences and transitions that I thought up and she agreed upon, incorporated and working. Of course the biggest kick was seeing my name in the credits, which by the way I was able to get a frame of, as soon as I actually have it, I'll scan it and put it up!
Reviews-wise, it seemed to do alright, 5th in box office and if you read the Yahoo reviews, the people loved it, while the critics gave a nodd to the fact that it was a targeted movie and those targeted generally liked it, I'm sure if any of the critics were 13 year old girls, they would have loved it. The audience I was with all laughed at the righ spots, and the sounds of sniffling at the sad moments could also be detected.
Now I have to take the rest of my family to go see it!
